Elizabeth Mullez stared out the window of her hotel room. A beautiful view of the outside world, seated on the 11th floor of the luxurious Apple Inn & Suites located in Brookesville, Montana. She wasn’t looking out of the window to enjoy the vast array of nature, no, she was waiting. It was already 9 pm, so there really wasn’t anything to enjoy looking at other than the city lights in the background. If her calculations were correct, the local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies would be arriving any minute now.
According to the information she intercepted over the police scanner she carried with her everywhere she went, they were closing in on her. She listened as the scanner went silent, and all she could hear was the minute and second hand click inside of the clock that sat centered just above the 65 inch Vizio mounted to the wall above the dresser located near the foot of the bed.
“What a journey this has been.” She said out loud to the glass window, streak free, sitting in front of her very eyes.
Any minute now, the nighttime sky would light up with those ugly colors of red and blue and fill the void of the half-empty parking lot. She was waiting. She was ready…to destroy what remains of yesterday.
